Get Needed Support from
Someone Who Knows the Territory

In my experience over the past 24 years working in the field of somatic psychotherapy and treating disordered eating, I noticed there was a significant lack of resources for parents of teens who struggled in this area. These families were often left guessing as to how they “should” respond to their daughter’s newly revealed “problem”.

I decided to offer my services as a coach to parents who are navigated this delicate territory because I have had numerous conversations with parents who either tended to overreact or under-react (both completely valid responses to something as potentially big and frightening as a suspected eating disorder). And I know how important it is to have a safe space to react and then to stabilize and respond from a centered place.

I come by this work honestly; many years ago, I myself healed from an eating disorder, and I have witnessed and supported family members spanning three generations who have also grappled with these issues.

I promise to be real with you and point out the places you and your family need to grow and shift your thinking about food, weight, and body image. And I promise to be so very gentle when it’s not related to a safety issue because you see it’s not your fault. This epidemic is WAY bigger and insidious than even the most devoted parents can keep at bay. We cannot fully insulate our kids from all the dangers out there, or from what it’s like to grow up female in this world.

And I don’t mean to be scary but it’s really imperative to respond ASAP to your teen’s situation, to make sure she is physically safe and for the best prognosis of a full recovery. And even if you aren’t responding for the very first time, what you do now makes a difference!

Unless we are actively taking the antidote for what we are getting “fed” from this culture, we are likely perpetuating it.

What I suggest for parents is to invest in a 3 Session Package with me, where we can first of all stabilize your family, uncover attitudes or “downloads” from the culture and family system, as well as bringing into consciousness unhealed stories which may have reinforced the toxic messages your teen is getting, and gently but firmly help you respond to this revelation with wisdom and centeredness.
